Akshay Is Angry At The Censor Board, Why Did He Not Release The Uncut Version Of Omg 2 On Ott?
The Censor Board had made 27 cuts in OMG 2. After that, an adult certificate was also given. Akshay and the film's director Amit Rai had planned to release only the uncut version of the film on OTT. But this did not happen. Now Akshay has given the reason.
Akshay Kumar was completely angry at the censor board. His film OMG 2 was released in theaters on 11 August. Sunny Deol's film 'Gadar 2' was in front, despite that the film earned well. OMG 2 received only positive responses from critics and the general public. Then why the resentment? The reason is that the Censor Board tore apart his film badly. Got 27 cuts done. After this was done, he was also given an adult certificate. That means only adults could watch this film in theaters.
The film's director Amit Rai had also expressed his anger at this decision. He had then said in an interview with PTI that even though the Censor Board may not have allowed him to release his film completely in theaters, he would release the film without cuts on OTT. Amit had said,
We have decided that we will show the original film (on Netflix). That film, which the censor (board) never wanted people to see. But people gave their verdict after watching the film. If the censor board still doesn't understand, what can we say?
Akshay Kumar recently spoke to India Today. There he talked about social media trolling. He said that people have problems with everything. Added further,
Whatever you do, someone will have a problem. I made a film on sex education, and people had problems with that too. Let it be given an adult certificate. I made a film for children and it was very unfortunate that our film was given an adult certificate. The population of our country is 150 crores, don't you think we need sex education? This was very sad.
There was talk of bringing the uncut version of OMG 2 on OTT. Then why didn't the makers do this? Akshay gave the reason for this:
The film is out on Netflix. People were saying to release the uncut version (on OTT). I said no, respect the censor. We will release only the cut that the censors have given us. Out of respect for him, I released the same cut that he gave us.
Before OMG 2, five of Akshay's films were flops. In such a situation, OMG 2 provided great relief. After that, his film ‘Mission Raniganj’ came out. The film's earnings are sluggish but Akshay says he has no problem. He said that even though this film did not work, it is still his best film. Let us tell you that ‘Mission Raniganj’ is based on mining engineer Jaswant Gill who saved the lives of 65 people trapped in the mine.
