Actress Nayanthara of the film 'Annapoorani' has apologized by writing 'Jai Shri Ram'. His film was accused of hurting religious sentiments. The film was embroiled in controversies due to the depiction of Lord Ram as a non-vegetarian as well as scenes of a Brahmin girl offering Namaz before making biryani in the cooking show.
Nayanthara, who was seen with Shahrukh Khan in the film 'Jawaan', has written on her Insta account that her intention was not to hurt anyone.
After the controversy, this film was removed from the OTT platform Netflix. Even an FIR has been registered against this film. This film also had to face a lot of opposition on social media. Before writing an apology on her Instagram account, Nayanthara has written Jai Shri Ram at the top.
Further, she wrote, “I am writing this note with a heavy heart and with true desire regarding the situation arising out of our film ‘Annapoorni’. I would like to tell all the countrymen that I and my team did not intend to hurt anyone's sentiments.”
He further wrote, “We are well aware of the seriousness of this issue. Being someone who completely believes in God and frequently visits temples across the country, I would never do this intentionally.”
Nayanthara further wrote, “I sincerely apologize to anyone whose sentiments have been hurt because of me. In my journey in the film industry over the last two decades, I have had only one intention, to spread positivity and learn from each other.”
What is objectionable in Annapoorani?
The film was released in theaters on 1 December 2023 and on Netflix on 29 December 2023. The religious sentiments of Hindus were hurt in the story of this film. People were criticizing this on social media.
In this film, Nayanthara plays the character of a woman who is the daughter of a priest in a temple. In some scenes of the film, Nayanthara is shown in temple clothes. But before making biryani, this same Brahmin girl is also shown wearing a burqa and offering namaz. Also, Lord Ram has been described as a non-vegetarian.
People who complained about this film called it an insult to the traditions of the Hindu religion. A police complaint was also lodged against this film. The filmmakers apologized after the criticism and said that they would edit it and release it again.
