Those 5 Films Of 2023, In Whose Promotion Crores Were Spent, Still Became Super Flops, The Last Name Will Surprise You

Those Movies that Disappointed Fans in 2033: Compared to the last few years, many more movies were released in 2023, because before that there was a COVID lockdown due to which theaters were closed. Therefore, this year many big pending issues were also seen on screen. This year, due to tremendous promotion and star value, the audience was waiting for some films and they also got great releases. Here we are talking about Tamil cinema for which this year was good but in 2023, some films did not live up to the expectations and disappointed the audience. Here we take a look at those five Tamil films that disappointed fans in 2023 and caused losses worth crores to the makers.

Michael: Directed by Ranjith Jayakody, 'Michael' stars Sandeep Kishan, Vijay Sethupathi, Divyansha Kaushik, Gautham Menon, Varun Sandesh, Ayyappa Sharma, Anasuya and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar. Its tremendous promotion impressed the audience to watch the film but after its release, it could not make much of a splash. The action drama screenplay looked weak and the Sandeep Kishan starrer film flopped badly at the box office. It collected only Rs 11 crore.

Pichaikkaran 2: 'Pichaikaran' was one of Vijay Antony's biggest hits and the music director turned actor made his directorial debut with 'Pichaikaran 2'. Its sequel was released in April but the emotional drama failed to attract the audience. 'Pichaikaran 2' received below-average reviews, but the film did well at the box office. The film made for Rs 15 crores earned only Rs 36 crores.

Iraivan: Jayam Ravi starrer 'Iraivan' took a long time to make and this psycho-thriller was released in theaters last September. But people also did not like its story much and the film received an 'A' certificate from CBFC due to which very few people came to see it. Despite giving big hits like 'Ponniyin Selvan', Jayam Ravi failed to continue his winning streak and this disappointed the actor's fans. Iraivan was made with a budget of Rs 28 crore but its worldwide collection was only Rs 5 crore. This proved to be a big disaster.

Japan: 'Japan' was actor Karthi's 25th film and the film was released on the occasion of Diwali. Karthi's historical film was promoted a lot by the producers and the film got a great release. But Raju Murugan's direction appeared weak in every aspect and the film disappointed the fans greatly. Despite a good opening at the box office, 'Japan' performed slowly at the box office. Japan was made for Rs 30 crore but it collected only Rs 28 crore.

Chandramukhi 2: Rajinikanth starrer 'Chandramukhi' was one of the biggest hits of Tamil in 2005. Director P. Vasu chose to make a sequel to 'Chandramukhi' and the film had a new cast of stars in the lead roles including Raghava Lawrence, Kangana Ranaut, Lakshmi Menon, Mahima Nambiar, and Radhika among others. 'Chandramukhi 2' was released in theaters last September, but the film received mixed reactions. Even though the director adopted the same pattern for the sequel, the audience did not like this story the second time around. Chandramukhi 2 was made for Rs 60-70 crore while it earned only Rs 40 crore worldwide. This was a big disaster. Fans were very excited about this film of Kangana but surprisingly it also turned out to be a super flop.
