The coming together of the real-life couple Ranbir-Alia in the film Bhansali, who is counted among the best directors of Bollywood in terms of love stories, is very exciting for the fans. But do you know that this couple's real-life love story also has a very old connection with Bhansali?
Ranbir-Alia's first meeting took place on the sets of Bhansali.
Alia and Ranbir's love story remained in front of the people to a great extent and their being seen together was a part of the news. But the first meeting of these two took place many years ago. At that time Alia was only 11 years old.
Last year, Alia, who was promoting her Hollywood film 'Heart of Stone', revealed her first meeting with Ranbir. While talking to Netflix, Alia said that it happened on the sets of Bhansali's film 'Black' (2005), in which Rani Mukherjee played the lead role.
Alia had told me that she had gone to audition for the role of Young Rani Mukherjee in 'Black'. She did not get that film, but she met Ranbir for the first time on the set of this film. Ranbir was the assistant director of Sanjay Leela Bhansali on 'Black'. This was before his Bollywood debut.
During the promotion of 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', Bhansali told the story of this meeting. Bhansali said that he had told the casting director of 'Black' that he wanted to save this girl who had come to audition for some future film. But he wanted to see how much of a heroine she could become from within. So he asked Alia to dance to the song 'Dola Re Dola', which she performed very well.
Bhansali further said, 'After this I asked him to get ready and asked Ranbir (Kapoor), who was assisting me on 'Black', to sit with him and click some pictures. Bhansali said that when he asked Alia to put her head on Ranbir's shoulder, she refused because she was shy.
He further said, 'After that, I was talking to Soni (Alia's mother, Soni Razdan) and suddenly I saw that she (Alia) rested her head on Ranbir's shoulder. I have a picture of both of them, which I sent to Alia on her last birthday. It was a small black-and-white copy. When Alia shared a video related to the promotion of 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', the public spotted this photo seen in the background. Alia, who was a child then, is seen wearing a saree in this photo.
In an award function in 2017, Ranbir and Alia had said that both of them were going to debut together. Bhansali was planning a film on child marriage with both of them, the title of which was 'Balika Vadhu'. Bhansali had clicked this photo of Ranbir and Alia as a screen test for this film.

It was Bhansali who gave the first film of his career to Ranbir, who was his assistant. He launched Ranbir with 'Saawariya' (2007). This film was not successful at the box office, but Ranbir also received the Filmfare Award for 'Best Debut' for it.
At the same time, Bhansali cast Alia in 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', which is counted among the most powerful performances of her career. The combo of Bhansali and Alia also gave the first big hit to the industry after the Covid lockdown. Now when Bhansali is bringing Ranbir and Alia together in 'Love and War', in this big screen love story, the background of the real-life love story of these actors is also exciting to the public.
