Kangana Ranaut's 'Dhaakad' And 'Tejas' Caused A Loss Of Rs 129 Crore To The Producers
The makers of Kangana Ranaut's new film Tejas suffered a loss of more than 70 percent.
Kangana Ranaut's films are not playing. His last hit film was Manikarnika. Which was released in 2019. Since then she has worked in films like 'Judgmental Hai Kya', 'Panga', 'Thalaivi' and 'Dhaakad'. None of these can be called a clean hit. His Tejas was just released. Don't ask about the fate of that film. If we talk in terms of numbers, then the producers have suffered a loss of Rs 129 crore from Kangana's last two films 'Dhaakad' and 'Tejas'.
'Tejas' was directed by debutant Sarvesh Mewada. This was described as an aerial action film. This film was made on a budget of Rs 70 crore. But 'Tejas' earned only Rs 4.25 crore from the country. This will probably be counted among the few films in history for which not a single ticket was sold in many theatres. Well, out of Rs 4.25 crore, Rs 1.91 crore went to the distributors. The producer got Rs 2.34 crore. The price of satellite, music, and streaming rights of 'Tejas' is estimated to be around Rs 17 crore. Total collection reached Rs 19.34 crore.
If we subtract Rs 19.34 crore from the film's budget of Rs 70 crore, then Rs 50.66 crore will be left. That means the producers have suffered a loss of Rs 50.66 crore from Kangana's 'Tejas'.
Now let us understand the account of his previous film 'Dhaakad'.
'Dhaakad' was made for Rs 80 to 85 crores. The film earned only Rs 3.17 crore worldwide. Due to the box office performance, the rights to that film were also sold at throwaway prices. According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, the makers of 'Dhaakad' suffered a loss of Rs 78.72 crore from this film. If we add the loss caused by 'Tejas' and 'Dhakad', then the total amount becomes Rs 129.38 crore.
It is being said that Kangana's political leanings and inclinations are the reason for such poor box office performance. People see and hear Kangana so much in real life that their interest in her films reduces. Apart from this, having full rights over any film is also working against Kangana. If every director makes a film according to Kangana, then obviously he will have to compromise with his vision. This affects the quality of the film. In the coming days, Kangana will be seen in a film named 'Emergency'. In this, she is playing the role of the former Prime Minister of the country Indira Gandhi. Kangana herself has directed this film.
